How To Apply

*Applications are now closed*

Who is eligible to apply?

The IARU Global Summer Program is open to students:

  • currently enrolled at one of the IARU universities: Australian National University; ETH Zurich; National University of Singapore; Peking University; University of California, Berkeley; University of Cambridge; University of Copenhagen; University of Oxford; The University of Tokyo; or Yale University;
  • fluent in English. Please contact the GSP Coordinator (at your home university) for criteria used to determine fluency.

What are the additional requirements?

Each course will have its own requirements or eligibility criteria. Students are advised to review the web profiles carefully. Please note that students from the University of Tokyo are required to check (weblink) for further requirements.

Australian National University students can apply to a maximum of 3 courses and must submit a separate application form for each course. This does not apply to optional language courses for which students should indicate interest in on the application form when applying for a course at the same university. Students are also required to complete one checklist and send that together with all applications in one email. Please check http://drss.anu.edu.au/isa/gsp/ for all information and requirements specific to ANU students.

How does the GSP Application process work?

There are three stages to the IARU GSP application process.

Stage I – Send your applications to your home university indicating which courses you would like to participate in. Please seek clarification with your home universities about the requirements for credit and funding (if needed). Please note that ANU and Todai students have additional requirements (as stated above).

Stage II – Your home university will go through your applications and nominate students for GSP courses. Application forms of nominated students will be forwarded to the hosting universities for their final decision.

Stage III – Successful students will be informed of their acceptance by the hosting universities on the week of 4 April, 2011. Students are required to respond to the host university's GSP offer by 15 April, 2011. Penalties for canceling an accepted offer may apply, subject to the terms and conditions outlined by each university.

How do I apply?

Please complete a GSP Application Form and forward it electronically to the IARU Global Summer Program Coordinator at your home university (not the host university). A list of GSP Coordinators for each IARU university is located at the end of the application form.

Completed application forms must be received by your home university by 7 March, 2011. Successful applicants may need to provide additional information to the relevant host university in order to complete the application process. These may include proof of English fluency, reference letters from Faculty, recent ID photographs and additional registration forms. Successful applicants will also be prompted to begin their visa applications, if one is needed.
